Has nothing to do with ticket sales, hotels, tourists, etc. Highest-ranked team goes. Barring a Florida win, it will be Auburn.
Coaches have Auburn ranked ahead of LSU so if CFP ranking follow suit, it will be Auburn.

While technically true because it goes off the CFB playoff rankings, the Sugar Bowl and playoff committee will definitely be communicating throughout the process. All things equal, committee would likely rank the Sugar Bowls preferred choice higher. Again, all things equal, and that may not be the case in the eyes of the committee.. They very well may see auburn or Florida or LSU as the team that should be ranked higher regardless of the SBs preference
Personally, I think LSU should be ranked the highest and is the best team. But I 100% get the argument for Auburn. Won't be disappointed either way, because both LSU and Auburn had their chances to control their destiny and failed.

Should go to Auburn. Better record and ranked higher and beat LSU. A four loss team does not deserve the Sugar Bowl.

Not in playoffs don't care.

You realize auburn is a 4-loss team too right?
So is A&M, LSU, Tenn, and Florida(after Bama loss).. That's the whole deal, there's basically a 5-way "tie" that has to be broken...it's not as simple as LSU vs Auburn. All of those teams have an argument, some obviously better than others ...A&M beat Auburn, LSU beat A&M, Florida beat LSU, Tenn beat Florida, A&M beat Tenn, Aub beat LSU, etc etc Etc

Why? What is LSU's best win?

We really don't have a best win. So you'll get no argument from me there.
I just believe LSU is the best of the team's right now. But I am totally open to and understand the other side to that argument

Whoever the committee invites.

These Bowl committees have absolutely no power anymore. They just stand around in their custom blazers like chumps. The ONLY thing they have any say over is which local gladhander's bimbo daughter gets crowned X Bowl queen.
Now, ESPN is a different animal. They went all in and spent billions of dollars monopolizing the TV rights to college football and the bowl games. They overextended themselves and are financially struggling now as a result.
If anybody has the ability to whisper in the Committee's ear it will be them.

Based on today's rankings, Auburn looks like a lock. No problem with that

Neither.

Wrong. The Sugar Bowl chooses, not the playoff committee.
"If a conference champion qualifies for the playoff, then the bowl will choose a replacement from that conference."

See the post right above yours. It's in black and white right on the CFP website. It literally couldn't be any clearer. The Sugar Bowl gets to pick who they want.

You clearly haven't seen all of Bama's games.

AU. Will sell hotel rooms in NOLA. LSU fans just drive in
This has nothing to do with it anymore. They're contractually obligated to get the highest ranked sec team not in the playoffs.
With the way the CFB committee says they rank people, I wouldn't be surprised if LSU got in. Gus is doing his best Les Miles impression with his garbage QB development.
