Ole Miss has played the second-most freshmen of any team in college football this year, and it will be no different Saturday as 14 freshmen are listed on the two-deep depth chart for the Mississippi State game.
Conner sat down with some of the younger defensive backs Monday and tried to lift their spirits. He explained to them that Ole Miss only won seven games his first year but continued to progress every year after that. It's not the season many of them expected to have when they signed, just like it's not the way the seniors wanted to go out, but the future remains bright.
"So some will choose to put emphasis on the disappointing season that many view us as having. But the totality of what they've done here, you can't argue. Two New Year's Six bowl games, four consecutive bowl games -- hopefully we can make it five after Saturday -- that's what they should be remembered for." - Freeze
^^^ Actually Hugh, you can kind of argue... let's talk when we make it to the SEC Championship. Not win, just make it. Strength of conference is no excuse. We took the #1 opponent down two years in a row then dropped the ball to inferior opponents. NY6 bowls and Cotton Bowls are cool and all but...
The bright spot I took from this is how many freshmen hit the field this year, but it's like we basically hit the reset button after the 1st Generation of Freeze players (RN, Treadwell, TC, Engram, CJ Johnson, Prewitt, Senquez, Tunsil etc etc). Now on to the 2nd Generation to see if they can improve on the 1st Gen. New coaching a necessity. You can have all this great talent, but an offensive line made of porcelain and a WTF defense isn't going to allow anything to happen with it.

I love playing the freshman in the sense that they will be experienced so we should be better, but I don't like how this season we just "reset".

OP - your first sentence says a lot --
"Ole Miss has played the second-most freshmen of any team in college football this year . . ."
"Ole Miss has played the second-most freshmen of any team in college football this year . . ."

Anyone got a list of seniors? Didn't see Terry Caldwell out there today.
