Bryant was 0-5-2 against Neyland, but that was while he was at Maryland and Kentucky, not Alabama. Neyland retired in 1952 and Bryant didn't start head coaching (at Maryland) until around 1946 or 47).

True, but while at Kentucky, he had them at the best they ever were

1949 took UK to Orange Bowl and lost
1950 took UK to Sugar Bowl and won
1951 took UK to Cotton Bowl and won

At UK, Bryant had UK in the Top 20 for 5 straight years
1949
1950
1951
1952
1953

Kentucky and Maryland bowl games were part of the impetus to move final polls from end of season to end of bowl season we have today.
