Vandy gets wipped by a solid Marquette team
Tennessee gets beat by Chattanooga
Georgia loses to Clemson
Several other games close.

The bottom half of the SEC isn't good. If KA wants any chance of returning Mizzou has to be competitive against them

And yet we'll likely finish last again.

The good news is that if Mizzou finishes last again, Mizzou will have a new coach next season.

I hate to disagree with you, but you are quite wrong there.

The bottom AND the middle of the conference isn't good. Considering we are two of three schools in the SEC that like basketball Arkansas and Missouri not having more success in recent years is pretty damning.

Unless Marshall drops form the heavens, neither of those are goods news. It would be much better news if the team took a real stride forwards

You're right the best news is the team actually being ok this year, returning everyone and in a good position to make a good run the next few years. I'm not super confident in that.
I don't think Marshall is the only coach that Mizzou could target and succeed here. A few names:
Cuonzo Martin
Tommy Ammaker
Dan Hurley
King Rice
Matt McCall
Mark Montgomery
Ben Jacobson

I think McCall will be interesting guy to look into. His resume is a little like Brad Underwood's was at the time Mizzou hired KA.
He has only been a head coach 1 season, won 29 games and his conference. Noncon wins over Georgia, Dayton, & Illinois last year. Opened this season with a win over Tennessee.
He spent most of the last decade working under Donovan at Florida.

McCall is the most interesting of those to me and we probably could get him.

I'm surprised no one has pulled the trigger for him.

It's not for lack of trying. He has schools approach him almost every season.

He must really like Cedar Falls for some reason then.

He's an alum there. But I think it has more to do with being willing to wait for the right opportunity. UNI pays him about what KA makes at Mizzou.
Shaka Smart waited it out at VCU, now I think is going to have a great run at Texas.

If you're talking Jacobson, he's not UNI alum...he went to North Dakota.

He's been impressive. Maybe he'd follow Norm's path from UNI to Mizzou
