NATIONAL Top 100 players on our roster vs. our opponents

Not sure why anyone on this board would even attempt to argue there isn't much of a talent disparity between Bama, LSU, and us.

There is clearly a difference, a big difference where it counts The Bama, LSU offensive and defensive lines are in a different league than ours. There is a drop off from Auburn to us as well.

Our line of scrimmage play on both sides of the ball hasn't been close to the physicality of 2012.

What is depressing about Sherman's legacy here is he showed the absolute ceiling any optimist can hope for in a program that doesn't recruit top 10 classes every year. Pretty much every position where you can find diamonds in the rough (QB, WR, OL) he and his staff did. And it still wasn't good enough to overcome a lack of elite talent on the defense.

As a program, defense is probably a permanent liability for us. Chavis is coaching one of his worst defenses ever, and easily his worst after a full season at a program. It seems coaching is almost irrelevant in regards to the performance of a defense, how well you recruit is what defines the ceiling and the floor. Which super duper sucks because it means there will never be a magic bullet for our defense (like we thought we got with Chavis).

The only way I see this turning around isn't firing Sumlin because honestly Sumlin has recruited elite defensive players at a rate not seen since RC. What we need is what benefitted RC back in the day- some bad luck to programs around us.

We need the coach after Charlie to also flop at Texas, so that FINALLY kills that Vince Young created momentum that has the midget out recruiting us every year. We also need OU to get impatient with Stoops and run him off for someone worse, and for LSU to completely frick up their current hire. Maybe then we could finally field a defense somewhat close to what we dream of.

What we really need is the 7 on 7 offenses in this states' high school programs to go the way of the 8 track tape player.

Fickle boosters with middling results on field, stadium investment, oil prices, and the negative recruiting target of every regional school. It's been an underwhelming couple years with the top end recruits.

The problem is that it isn't "the best span of football A&M has ever had period period" and that is what it will take to undo the caste system in our state.

Wrong... Michigan, n. Carolina, Louisville, BC Wisky, Va Tech, Wake fricking Forest, all better against the run and all have less latent on D, in some cases a LOT less. I could keep going but those were the ones that play tough teams and are power 5.

A&M has already torn down the caste system in the state. The school just fine top 15 recruiting classes in almost every sport.

Our fans are upset about Football and Basketball. We've made huge strides, but those are the most corrupt sports in the NCAA. We could cheat like the Sips, but we would end up like Ole Miss. Let Sumlin keep stacking great classes and then getting these great transfers a year or 2 after they regret their "youthful" decisions.
