You will dominate us and win with ease. We can't stop your balanced offense, and your highly underrated defense will shut down our hot garbage, one-dimensional attack. I get it now.

But why, then, do the offensive stats for both teams look like this?

AU: 1577 rush 1298 pass 2875 total 478 plays 6.01 yds/play 479.2 yds/game (#28 in FBS)
Arky: 1258 rush 1861 pass 3119 total 512 plays 6.09 yds/play 445.6 yds/game (#41 in FBS)

If you're such an offensive juggernaut, why are you averaging 30+ fewer yards per game?

Also, we're a one-dimensional run-first offense, with virtually no passing threat, as everyone knows. And yet our run/pass mix (55/45) is more balanced than yours (40/60). Are you not considered one-dimensional because both of your dimensions are just so damn good?

I defer to your superior understanding of college football statistics. I guess I need to pay closer attention Saturday night when you annihilate us.

Stats mean nothing. We're going to give up points. We're also going to score points. It's going to be a tough game and neither team is getting a blowout. Auburn at home should be favored, but I still like our chances.

What do the stats look like when you adjust for competition?

Stats and recruit rankings determine outcomes of games.

Naah, games are determined by the homerish opinions of anonymous internet posters.

Probably the same. Bama spotted Arkansas 130+ yards in garbage time down 25 points. That game didn't effect their average at all. It's not like LSU's light years away from Bama's defense. That being said, can we end the constant stat trolling?

Ever heard of Houston Nutt?

I never would have believed Malazahn would be the second coming.... but it's sooooo familiar.

I would assume similar. Arky has played bama and AU has played Clemson. Not a push but close. Both played atm and, while both lost, one was more competitive.

Garbage teams are garbage but AU took care of theirs convincingly while Arky did not.

How would you adjust this?

Good question, maybe the answer lies there.

Since the OP was about offenses, here's the statistical rankings of the two teams' opponents thus far, in descending order (Pro Tip: lower numbers > higher numbers)

ARKY -------------- AU
#5 Bama - #9 Clemson
#84 TCU - #13 LSU
#95 LA Tech - #38 MSU
#98 TAMU - #92 Arky State
#104 Ole Miss - #98 TAMU
#124 Texas St - #115 LA Monroe

I left out Arky's 7th opponent, Alcorn State, because I couldn't find them in the list of FBS defenses for some reason.

Now, I'm even more confused. Wasn't the level of competition Arky's offense has faced thus far supposed to be significantly better than AU's?

You guys played Clemson when everyone is rusty and sputtering on offense. We played THE alabama crimson tide when they were full steam ahead.
