Well, one thing I've always noticed is that when Georgia sucks walrus dick in football, the basketball team is pretty good and I think they could easily have an NCAA year. Winnable conference games and winnable OOC games.
OOC is headlined by possibly Kansas, Marquette, Texas, Clemson, George Washington, and Georgia Tech. Obviously Kansas will be tough but everything else we at least have a shot.
Not really sure what to make of our conference schedule yet.
I love what Mann and Gaines for us but Mann was a turnover machine and Gaines was pretty inconsistent. I feel pretty comfortable with Frazier being the leader.
Maten needs to get more consistent but if he does, he could be one of the best big men in the conference.
I'm not sure of what to make of Parker. I think a lot of people see potential in him.!injust haven't seen that myself.

Very excited for basketball season. This is the deepest team Fox has had. JJ and Yante are a great 1-2 punch. This team should be fun to watch.
Challenging schedule that will give us opportunities for resume wins and a great SOS. Hope it starts off right winning in Clemson.

Maten is a beast but I have a feeling that losing Gaines will hurt more than expected. I always thought he was a better perimeter defender than he got credit for

Losing gaines does suck. But I expect turtle to come up big and JJ could be a dark horse for SECPOTY imo.

Gaines could be great but he was so inconsisetent. He did not have a hi caliber senior year. Anyone have any insight into the starting lineup?

Not to dis basketball. I'm actually excited as well. But when a basketball thread is started on a UGA football forum midway through the season, you know it's been a rough one.

I'm ready baby! Three straight 20 win seasons about to be 4
Everybody makes fun of Fox but we're quietly becoming one of the most consistent programs in the SEC and at Georgia that's nothing to sneeze at.

This isn't a "football" forum. It's the Georgia Sports Board. Implying more than one sport.

Guessing
JJ
Turtle
Parker
Maten
Ogbeide
Harris, crump, Edwards, Kessler, KPG, wilridge with minutes off the bench. Diatta is a wildcard juco transfer. Know nothing about him but we need a 4th big.
Ideally, I'd like the rotation trimmed down to make Kessler and KPG obsolete by conference play.
We are absolutely going to the tournament. I'm so fricking psyched to be at the games in KC. If we lose to George Washington and don't get to play Kansas I will probably kms.

This year would be a failure if we don't make the tourney... and that is a great thing.
Posted on 10/19/16 at 11:15 am to rockchlkjayhku11
Ogbeide is a beast. Pure hustle. Putting him next to Maten will be a nightmare for most SEC teams.
Posted on 10/19/16 at 11:20 am to BranchDawg
I think so too. Ogbeide gonna absolutely eat on the offensive glass. Started to really like what I saw from him at the end of last year. Then Yante is just gonna do whatever he wants IMO. Should touch the ball every possession.

Somehow I think we end up starting Kessler or geno for half the year :bangshead:
Posted on 10/19/16 at 11:48 am to athenslife101
Kessler was a waste of a jersey last year

Man it is so easy to forget about Parker. I feel like its been forever since I've seen him play.

So what's our realistic expectations for this season? Should we make the big dance this year or just NIT?
Posted on 10/19/16 at 4:33 pm to dawgfan24348
This team is legit big dance or bust; deepest team Fox has had and a solid starting line up. Should be a good one. Like I said above- if we don't make the tourney then the season is a failure (which isn't a statement normally associated with UGA bball).
Posted on 10/19/16 at 4:51 pm to dawgfan24348
If we don't get a decent seed in the tourney it will be a disappointment. Honestly expect this team to make it past the first round of the tourney, too. Not sure we make it to sweet sixteen or anything but we should be in the thick of it
