Black players arent going to jump on a protest bandwagon because the coach disciplines a underperforming player. Do you really think they are that simple minded?
Plus it wouldnt be appreciated if JMon used the protest to keep from being disciplined. He would dig a hole with the black players.
Face it, BO was not ready for the job. No excuses.

if you frame the question like that, no. I'm confident that other people would frame the situation differently.

Since BO was at Mizzou during the Protest, if he didnt think he could discipline a black player, why show interest in the job?
Im sorry, 3 million a year, but im scared to bench a cancer. And its not like other black players and coaches dont see him being an arse. Fricken do your job or quit so we can get a coach with balls.

It's way too early for this assessment.
Pinkel would have maybe one more win with this roster. And we'd still be seeing the Josh Henson offense and AJ Ricker Oline.
I don't think we would've lost as badly in the WV, LSU or FL games. But we still would've lost.

You're making simplistic arguments. I'm not going to argue false dichotomies.
And he's not making $3M.

Its not an argument its my opinion and I respect yours.
To coach college football means coaching a majority of black players. If fear is figuring into him letting Moore be a cancer then that is no excuse. Mizzou is not the only place where racial issues surface. Were in the SEC for fricks sake. Deal with Moore appropriately like any player.

Yes and no. Mizzou is a buzzword because of the protests and the click-happy media is using the football protests and "Mizzou" as a way of driving the "outrage online culture." The reporting on the racial incident on campus with the follow-up story on the "date rape" allegations is a good example. It was nothing event and really a minor story. Some drunk white bitches acted like drunk white bitches. "Racial Incident at Mizzou Fraternity"
We need a good 12 months of the stories in our rear view mirror to get out from under the stigma of it. I suspect he's trying to keep from rocking the boat much.
And I don't think it's as simple as "J'mon is a cancer. We should bench him but we can't cuz he's black." Maybe it is. But I doubt that's it. Life isn't usually that simple.

But if you're scared to "Rock the boat" you inadvertantly empower those who would use race. Show that you're scared of the racial issue and someone will use it against you.
Also, the view of the protest is is much different depending on whether you or black or white. Whites tend to view it in the negative and get angry. Where black families that I have spoken to at football camps viewed it as very positive. One of the few times a protest didn't escalate etc. So black families in general don't need a 12 month buffer. I think trying to turn this into a racial incident would be a non-starter for black players.
But as I stated, I respect your opinion and appreciate your tone and candor.

Blacks viewed the protests so positively that black applications to Mizzou dropped more than any other demographic group. I'm sure they felt solidarity with the protestors. And I don't understand that and won't pretend to.
That's already happening. How BO reacts to this micro-situation is irrelevant to that. I suspect there's about 30 issues ahead of J'mon in importance.

Brantley & Brady were dismissed with quickness with no reprisals.

Brantley couldn't have been kept on the team even if everyone voted on it.
But Brady being dismissed quickly says that BO isn't just a pushover player's coach. And given what we see out of the defense, I would suspect he knew that would be a bigger deal than we as fans thought it would be at the time. Which lends credence to my suspicion that the J'mon situation isn't as cut and dried as it seems to us fans.

I've been feeling this for a couple of weeks at least now but it's getting painfully obvious. If he's gonna make it he has got to get control of this team now.
Time for tough love. Holding hands...indeed.

Now Bass don't fall for how the Media words things. Black apps had increased for 3 years, even with the drop there were still positive gains.
Most apps for 2016 year had been submitted before the protest.

The total number of black students who applied dropped year over year. And it wasn't an insignificant drop. And applications to a school like Mizzou aren't turned in before the protests.

Moore still first on the depth chart.

I'm trying to find an online link to the report they gave us at the boosters banquet. It said that the total apps did drop but it was proceeded by 3 years of growth.
I found it interesting at the time because while the majority of apps had been submitted Spring/Summer of 2015 for Fall semester 2015, the true measure of the effect on Black students would have been Black student withdrawal numbers for Winter 2016 semester. I have never seen those.
But I do believe the report because from a Black perspective, the protest was a success. The President resigned within a few days, the team played the game and won. From that point of view, what is the negative?
But to be for sure...my company's fiscal year ends in 2 weeks. At that time I will make my annual donation. I will ask for the numbers on black apps and enrollment and start a thread on the results. Fair enough?

Burkett is finally out of the starting lineup. I guess the coaches noticed approximately 80% of the plays are run right at Burkett.
Frazier is finally listed as starter as well.
