Pretty clear the issue wasn’t a lack of talent. Looks more like growing pains looking back.
I think we learned in hindsight that Wynn needed to be at tackle and Catalina moved inside... perhaps Wynn wasn't quite ready in 16 for that, but that certainly seemed to be a personnel decision that maybe if made earlier might have alleviated some of the issues. Gaillard at Center my guess is was not ready in 16 (converted from DL). But it was clear that we were asking that group of OL to operate in a way that *collectively* they were not prepared to do in 2016...
Kirby wanted to be a power OL... that lineup was not capable of doing it at a consistently high level (at least in the configuration(s) that we tried)...
I still maintain that the talent of *that* OL was below what we have currently, but they probably were overly criticized to some degree as well.

That is not even debatable. There is absolutely no question that the coaches have been recruiting the OLine (well, pretty much every position) better.
I get, and understood the criticism of the Oline, but the problem seems to have been they were being played out of position. If I had to guess, now, I would say it was due to a lack of knowledge of the players. Pittman and Kirby were not familiar with the players, and ended up having some out of position.
I fro one am glad we are past all of that. I think we can all look back and say we are glad to have him as our coach..
