If it leads to a consistently better defense over the next several years it's a good move. To panic after only 5 games is the mark of a bad organization.

Do you think the defense can be "consistently" better than it was the previous few seasons? I could understand tweaks to try and plug the run game but the complete overhaul with expectations that the defense will be "better" in the long run is very questionable to me. It smells like an ego driven move to me quite frankly.

Only time will tell but if the defense doesn't perform better than it has the last couple years its a net loss and throwing away the "dlinezou" reputation in the process.

Put it this way, when Mizzou has faced teams with legit playoff chances we haven't been very competitive on defense. This defensive scheme is designed to combat those teams.

So maybe not a better ranked defense, but one designed to stop those offenses.

You do realize that they aren't throwing this away, but are trying to make it better? This scheme will allow the staff to disguise coverage and hide pressure far more effectively than a one gap front 7 with Tampa 2 coverage.
