If they did they can't release those records without his approval. So if that's the case he's mad dumb son!
I would guess it's probably a requirement that players allow access to medical records for the purpose of continued treatment by team doctors/trainers.

My guess is during his hospital visit they took a blood sample and he likely tested positive for pot (something he's been suspended for previously) or PEDs.
Most likely senerio.

Seriously? You don't think they are gonna check what's in his system before pumping him full of pain medications? I would imagine that cocaine shows up on a simple blood toxicology report.

Cocaine is a helluva drug

Can't really process a 5th year starting senior. It doesn't help you one bit in terms of recruiting and hurts us BAD on the field.
Besides, no coach is more aware of perception than Jones. His hand was forced.

While general tox doesn't usually check for it. He may have raised red flags at the hospital (not behaved on par with his injury). Could also be a random that only now came back.
Regardless, this sucks.

I'm not a doctor either, but I would think that even if the general tox doesn't specifically check for cocaine that something would come back on general tox that suggests SOMETHING is in his system that should not be.

It may sound cold, but if they ran a drug test on him prior to medical treatment, is UT responsible for paying those medical bills?
Don't employees typically get fired on the spot when they get hurt on the job, require medical care, and then get tested positive for drugs? And then whose health insurance picks up the costs?

It's going to be a mentally straining road ahead for this guy. Yikes.

It's not a coincidence this happened during Bama week.
Where did the "doctor" that perform this drug test graduate from? Surely his wife sisters friend of a friends friend didn't once drive through part of Alabama at one point in time in her life when she was very young and didn't even remember it right?
Something is very fishy.. I would not be surprised if it was a gump doctor that drugged him so that he would fail the drug test.

Employer responsible for initial treatment. If drug test comes back positive, employer not responsible for any future medical bills.

If he was caught there then it's more likely his heart rate wasn't normal and his behavior was off. Blood tests are actually very, very, specific. They look only for what the Doc orders and no more. Had he been in a car wreck it would be different but you don't typically look for drugs on most trauma patients although there are exceptions. It just too costly and usually a waste.
Personally, I think he got caught on a random test that only recently came back. Coke doesn't stay in your system long at all but a random test on the wrong day would reveal it (NCAA schools test for drugs far more than hospitals unless you come in looking like a meth head and those signs are easy to spot).
He's also been in the doghouse for no discernible/disclosed reason before. It's a huge hit for us and I wish it hadn't happened but given the likelihood of drugs he either got busted by NCAA randoms or failed his 3rd test at UT.
Just sucks. He's one helluva player and one we need.
