anybody else frustrated over our lack of production/opportunities here? this should be a serious weapon for us.

I think it's personnel on kick returns and blocking (or philosophy) on punt returns. We don't really pressure the kicker and we let too many guys run free. Not sure what we're trying to accomplish.
I wish there weren't health concerns with Evans and he could return kicks.

Yeah. I started a thread a while back voicing these same concerns, as it seemed like we weren't allowing any room for Kirk to return on punts specifically.
I wasn't sure if it was our blocking, our scheme, how the opposition was actually kicking to us or all of the above. It just feels like Kirk has had very few opportunities to return punts as the coverage team is right on top of him once he catches the ball

Punt game was awful. Both in terms of execution and acting.

Most of the kicks weren't returnable. A good # of punts too.

Some kickoffs landed 3 yds in the end zone and we didn't even catch them. It was as if the staff said to hell with returning KOs. Hadn't seen that from us in previous games.

Teams are kicking to avoid our returners a lot of the time.

I think that was the gameplan. We probably thought UT did a good job covering kicks and we were better off just taking it at the 25

3 yards in the endzone means a 28 yards return just to break even.

but his point, and I think it's valid, is while 28 yards to break even, we have playmakres that can break them.
In past games we've returned from 3 yards in and we get a lot of starts at the 20 sprinkled in with a few 40s and our average is probably greater than 25. We chose not to yesterday
