Program Killing Games In SEC History?

Obviously no one game can completely kill a program for all time, but there do seem to be a few key games when a loss kills the program as a success coach has built it to be. Sometimes that successful coach is still there, and sometimes he has moved on, but in every case after this game the momentum that coach created is completely lost.
An obvious historical example for me as an Aggie is when OU beat us 0-77. That in one game killed RC Slocum's A&M program and what it represented. It took us almost a decade to recover.
A more recent obvious example is when Vanderbilt got beaten by Temple 37-7 in 2014. At that moment Franklin's program died and with it went any chance of Vandy relevance.
What other examples can you think of that involved your team or that are significant historically?
-I think our 2014 win vs USC basically killed Spurrier's program. Or maybe it is we knocked it to the ground and the Citadel delivered the final blow. I think if the whole "we had Herman until the Citadel" is true that is the worst program loss I have ever heard of.
-In retrospect it seems like we killed Gus's program with our 2014 win over them
-For one not involving us I think LSU killed Will Muschamp's Florida in 2013. They never recovered from that loss after winning 11 games the year before.

USC vs UGA 2015. Spurrier retired a few weeks after that game.

I'm not seeing it.
Since that game LSU is third in the SEC in win% behind Bama and UGA, and 15th in win% nationally. That's not exactly dead, imo.
If 21-0 killed LSU, it destroyed the rest of the SEC as well.

He was on the downward spiral long before that game.
I am not talking about the game that is the last nail in a coffin. I am talking about the first loss where an incredible coach/program looks mortal and then never recovers.

This. Everyone lost confidence in HDN. Not that they should have had it to begin with.

So why fire Miles???

Yeah but that didn't do anything for their program momentum.
Saban lost to La Monroe and it didn't kill his program.

Before 21-0 people debated for months who was the better coach Miles or Saban... Think about that..
21-0 was the turning point that Alabama and Saban were clear cut #1, and since than LSU hasn't been close to a NC and fans want him fired just because he's not having Saban like success.
21-0 broke the LSU program.

Ok, how about UGA vs UT 2015. I think that was the beginning of the end for Richt.

That is a great example.
We might look back at TCU 2015 the same way if Ole Miss doesn't get it together this year.

your so self-inflated and full of shite. it was a win that actually made Spurrier realize he didn't want to coach any longer. this was the night Carolina fans knew he was done with the defensive bullshite he actually allowed to overcome his Gamecock program.
44-28 in Nashville "Well Vanderbilt has not been an offensive juggernaught in the SEC"
