You are an awesome mouthpiece for a movement.
"What changes would you like to make?"
"You don't need to know."

best twitter reply all week last week was some guy who suggested Kapernick go find another country who would pay him millions to "suck at football"!
Seriously... I get the 1st amendment thing and all.... but this isn't about freedom of speech... it's about him trying to make himself relevant when he really is not.

I'd wager none- NONE- of them are willing to walk away from their NFL careers to move to Canada for that CFL money- and that oppression-free life they apparently yearn for.

Yep, he free to be an a-hole, and we're free in this country to view him as an a-hole.
That okay with you?

What are you implying? That because there are crazies who protest we shouldn't allow anyone to protest? Please elaborate, thanks.
Who said anything about not allowing it?

Eric Reid, Fournette, and Kaepernick.
These guys need to learn to appreciate what law enforcement and America allows for them.

Good for him. More people should do this and we can get rid of a song that celebrates the death of slaves.

None of you guys can even comprehend what African Americans deal with in this country.
As a black man who is a USMC vet I support them. I don't agree with it but I won't be online bitching about it and burning jerseys.

elaborate. You act like no one on this board other than you is black, or that no one on this board can relate to what african Americans deal with in this country unless they are black (news flash - kaepernick isn't black but he can comprehend?).
Struggle isn't unique to color, my friend. Struggle and oppression are felt by women, those below a certain socioeconomic level, below a certain education level, etc.
This country is far from perfect, but it is the best option for so many. the opportunity and freedoms we have here are unique. I've lived in other countries - not all great places. We've got it better than most.

Thank you for your service. Coming from a military background, I appreciate the unique perspective members of our military have on a variety of societal issues.

As I stated earlier, I support the underlying root of the movement in question. I don't support where these people have taken it and believe they have done more harm than good to the cause they have chosen to support. I'm not black but I am a veteran as well and and had several friends, one of them black, who died in combat and I watched their flag draped coffin go by. I don't support these men as they disrespect something that they don't know anything about. What they need are strong men and women to take this issue back from people tapping into the anger and hate of others. They need leaders on this issue that bring people together rather than tear them apart. They need people to who tell others how they can help them achieve positive change rather than focus on how bad white people, the police and America are.

gonna disagree with you here. I don't agree with his methods, but it IS American to stand for what you believe in. We have that right BECAUSE we are Americans. He couldn't pull this shite in a lot of countries, but he can here - whether we agree with his message, methods, tactics or not.

to be fair his exact words were "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." Seems he has some fairly un-American feelings

Totally agree, he's protesting shootings of people who did not cooperate with police. Granted there are a few cases where the cops are in the wrong, but mostly it's criminals and felons upset they got caught. The cases where cops are actually in the wrong are more common against whites and still so uncommon he might as well protest bad drivers. His protest is ridiculous, it's liberal crap like this that is causing this nation to lose its identity, once the public stops obeying the law and feels they have the right to stand up to authorities when they are caught we have anarchy.... Screw them both and Kap's socks
Posted on 9/2/16 at 3:51 pm to flash80
I'm not digging or hating on Kap or Eric at all they every right to protest.
I do find it kind of funny one was raised by a white family in the suburbs of Wisconsin. The other is married to a white girl and family is pretty darn well off outside of BR.
Both make millions and probably have no idea of what oppression really is.
