Missouri State 57 - Southwestern College (kansas) 0

I like what Steck is trying to do at Missouri State. Missouri State's relatively new administration is attempting to shift focus and funds into building a respectable football program (hence the hiring of Dave Steckel). They're about 30 years too late, but I like that they're at least making an effort now.

Missouri State recently renovated their shiit arse stadium with plans for future expansion if Dave Steckel can create a winning program.

Last year was tough for Steck as he attempted to instill his brand of football on players from the previous regime who weren't familiar with winning. It didn't work. Last year was terrible but it was an inherited team.

Apparently this year something is clicking. At least, something clicked last night!

Yes, they played a cupcake.

But surely we all can take a brief moment to rejoice in Missouri State's absolute SLAUGHTER of a kansas college.

Perhaps Steckel can create a little football magic in SWMO for the first time ever. In a few weeks Steck's team will travel to Kansas State to take on Snyder's program. Oddly enough, Missouri State has played K-State well in the past. I'd like to see them actually knock off K-State this year.

Stec could really turn MO State into a good program. If you look at the powerhouse FCS programs in the Midwest, they all have lots of kids from the KC and STL areas. Start getting those kids to stay closer to home and get a few Texas kids from the staff connections there and mo state could be really good.

I thought MSU hiring Steck was great. I wish he would have been coaching when I was in school down there. Would have made the games far more entertaining.

I know one thing. In previous years, MSU wouldn't have beaten anyone by 57.

Good for him, but I'll still never forgive him for the 2013 SEC title game.

Agreed, that was a horribly called game on his part.... His worst IMO

That game was so winnable.

You mean to tell me you'd put more than three DLs in the box against a team that was running up the gut with ease of downhill bowling balls?

Steck has a job in front of him. MSU plays in a conference packed with some of the best teams in the nation at that level. The administration and AD do seem committed to improving the football situation, but the MSU fanbase is another thing. They are interesting. Some seem to wish women's basketball was the only sport on campus, while others seem to prefer arguing about whether the school should have fired their men's basketball coach from the 90s over actually attending any sporting event now.

Hope Steck can fire up and galvanize the fan base down here. There are some MU fans down here pulling for Steck. He was a good coach and represented MU well, plenty enough to overlook the Navy bowl game and Auburn Championship game.

And Missouri State does have a little football history. They made it to their level's playoffs once or twice (in the 80s?) when they were still Southwest Missouri State.

Perhaps.

On a side note: Is there ever a time when you're not a prick?

I kid...I kid.

Stec and company won again yesterday. First 2-0 start at Mo State in a long time.
