Excuse the dumb question, but what exactly is the Cockaboose?

I never tailgated until I was out of college sports, unless you count going in the RV with grandparents as a young kid. So I do not know the allure of some of the traditions.
So my real question is, is it a trolley that takes you to the game? Is it something that all Carolina fans do?
**Last thread I will start on this board for a bit**

Yes, except it's a high speed power train that's also a metaphor for what Muschamp is fixing to do to the SEC.
Get on board or get run over, kid.

Lol no it's just a series of old cabooses that sit outside the stadium and are owned by some folks, scrooster being one of them. They are outfitted as the owner sees fit (bar, tv, etc.). I would call them high class tailgate spots.

You know that stupid shite Ole Miss does like setting up fancy chandeliers and whatnot?
It's kind of like that, except way more awesome and in the exclusivity of a railroad car. And we don't reheat frozen chicken fingers, so there's that too.

Do you own the entire railroad car or just the interior? That may seem like a stupid question, but it got me to thinking...if you own the entire railroad car, what keeps someone from removing their railroad car and having it shipped to somewhere else? I understand no one would do that because what would be the point, but you never know.
What keeps owners from moving the railroad cars offsite?

I like to sneak in the cockaboose and polish off mich ultra empties while everyone is at the game. Usually a few leftover bojangles chicken fingers laying around too.
Moving the cockabooses off site would be like missouri moving their safe spaces off campus. They are deeply rooted landmarks.

Not knowing what a Cockaboose is and the history associated with the tradition almost qualifies as an unforgivable sin, sir. Walking a very, very thin line on being given a healthy dose of

We have an HOA. The cars cannot be moved. They are property that we do own but they are very much like a beach condo ... you cannot take your beach condo with you.
Some of us have Cockabooses on our other property as well. You buy a caboose and fix it up just like you would on the Gamecock railroad.
The picture provided by CNB above includes my partners' and mine Cockaboose.
Our Cockaboose has also been featured on ESPN, CBS Sports and even the Weather Channel.

They all have basically the same floorplan.
The little enclosure on the far left is a closet.
The picture taker is standing in the kitchen.
Some of us have bathrooms installed, some do not.
I know the owners of that Cockaboose very well. I've never been crazy about the floor they installed ... we left ours with the original oak and had it refinished. It adds a lot to the look of ours IMHO and most of the other owners wished they had done theirs as we did ours.
Ours has been picked as the nicest decor on several occasions ... which is why USC usually sends the cameras to ours for pictures and videos.

Scrooster, thanks for explaining how it works.
On a side note: The picture shown above is in fact your Cockaboose, but that's the closest I'll ever get to seeing inside?
How much does a caboose (not cockaboose, but just a normal caboose) sell for these days? In addition to that question, how much does it cost to renovate the inside of a caboose to make it look like the images posted above?
Also, why would you want a cockaboose on your property? Don't get me wrong...I think it's cool as f#ck. But it seems like having a cockaboose on your property wouldn't be nearly as exciting as just spending your time at the Cockaboose located at the stadium.
