Coaching hires that didn't understand how things must work at Nebraska to be successful. Killing the walkon program was the first big mistake that Callahan had. And the continued abandonment of their "500 mile radius" for recruiting has only weakened the roster. You have to bring that skill talent in from California, Texas, or Florida, but over half your roster can't be from outside your geographical footprint.

Nebraska has plenty to sell. Good school, great facilities, blue blood, huge rabid fanbase etc., The only thing holding Nebraska back is Nebraska. They need a splashy hire for a big time coach instead of all these discount coaches and their program will turn on a dime just like Michigan is now.
