frick man all these cow lick towns in Texas are a joke. I do some work sending info out to East and West Texas. The mindset is a fricking joke. It's sad and frightening to see actually. Any attempt at improvement is met with "but we've got a high school whatever sport game, we can't do anything different".
The rural Texas folks are about 40 years behind the times. Seriously. Some "towns" in both east/west I can't get cell or internet service. And the people that live there like it that way.

Meh, there is something kinda exciting about staying in a place like Marfa or Alpine. Feels like you are on the edge of civilization, on the edge of the modern world.
City life isn't for everyone.

Yea everybody from Waxahachie is a moron...Including all of the surrounding communities(Ennis, Midlothian, Italy, and Corsicana). Most didn't go to college and they don't know what the world is like outside of Texas....one of the most close minded bunch you'll ever meet and this is coming from a person who grew up in Mississippi

If you had a map on the wall and stuck your finger on what looks like the center of the state, that's where my parents live. Only one cell phone company (Verizon) provides service there, and even then they need a signal booster Verizon installed in their house and have to stand under on certain tree. They have satellite TV and satellite internet (which sucks) because otherwise dial-up is all they could have. The nearest post office is in a trailer. Despite the total population figure, there's still a lot of the state that's extremely rural and sparsely populated. Everyone lives in (or near) Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus, and El Paso. Hell, even the Karolyi's gymnastics ranch, which is the "finishing school" for the US Olympic gymnastic team, is so remote that they have to send drivers to pick the girls up from IAH or people to meet them at the nearest highway because mapping software isn't good at providing directions and cell phones don't work well there.
