kendrick lamar would probably be a better example if we want to look to rappers for criticism of BLM but anyway, i dont get why so many people take such black and white stances on shite like this. yes, what has happened recently with the police officers is horrible. absolutely deplorable with no silver linings whatsoever. under no circumstance should acts of violence to innocent, honest, and hard working fellow americans who live their lives to serve us be considered as justified. but i also dont think the movement is horrible. what happened in dallas and in baton rouge were carried out by ignorant, hateful, and evil people. but im not ready to condemn the BLM movement because of those people.

These police shootings destroy any credibility of the BLM movement. It's devolved now to No Lives Matter.

I am.
I was ready to condemn BLM from jump street because its whole genesis was built upon the lie that was "hands up don't shoot." It's sickens me that the movement purposefully places a premium on ONLY white cop/black male police brutality, to the exclusion of other races, and ignoring the fact that these incidents not only don't occur at a higher rate to black people, but also almost without fail feature criminals who make poor decisions out of belligerence, pay the price, and are held up as martyrs.
It is a horrible movement, rotten to the core, and has without a doubt been the major catalyst in the latest spate of police slayings.
frick BLM.

I mean I'm not really for it either. I don't agree with the core beliefs of the movement and it's not like you'd ever see me protesting. My point was connecting the movement to the violence when I'm sure there are a bunch of people who do believe in the movement who didn't want any of this

But that's a fundamental part of the problem. The entire movement is based on a lie.

What do they believe in that's so noble, specifically? You said yourself you don't believe in their core beliefs.
I'll not go so far as to insinuate that every BLM'er wanted cops killed, but their movement (with it's poor core beliefs) has almost single-handedly emboldened racist cop-killers and made criminals into martyrs.
ETA: Not trying to attack you or anything, btw. Just tryna make some sense out of this nonsense world we live in

quote:yes. I don't believe in the BLM movement. I would never be interested in taking to the streets and protesting with them.

quote:and those are people who, if not for BLM, would be looking for any other outlet for their hate. The majority of people who do believe in the movement don't believe in this violence and I just don't agree with the idea that it should be blamed for what's happened when, for the most part, it's made up by people who just want to protest peacefully and I will always respect that even if I don't agree with what they are actually protesting

Not sure why you got downvoted. While I think the narratives perpetuated by BLM and the media have played a larger role in this, I don't think the movement is evil and malicious. I find the radical elements appalling, but there are plenty of people I feel are in it for the right reasons. Even if they are caught up in a false narrative.

I think 99% of the movement didn't want the violence to reach cops, but unfortunately there is an element that does, and I don't really think it gets shouted down or eliminated. When they dress it up with white privilege and how white cops are out to exterminate black men, my feeling is that people just sort of shrug. They let the echo chamber continue until radicalization occurs. But like I said in my previous post, I believe in the goodness of most people, and I don't think the majority has malicious intent by any means. I think they are manipulated to a very large degree.

There are no right reasons. Everything it's built on is a lie and is racist in and of itself, but that's already been covered by tbird. Anyone who thinks it is not a horrible stupid ridiculous "movement" is either playing contrarian or not very bright.

I agree it's built on lies and false narratives, but I don't think everyone that supports it is evil and malicious. I think they are being manipulated.
