We are still waiting on 3 signees for '16.
OL Will Putnam had summer plans and isn't enrolling until Summer II. OL Chavis Dawkins had some academic work to do, but he did it and will enroll Summer II. JUCO OL Akeem Cooperwood has some academics to still line up, he may not enroll until August/fall camp, and if he doesn't get it done, he may not enroll at all.
4* DT Stephon Taylor (the one we fought LSU and Texas for on NSD) has enrolled and is good to go.

So is it pretty much a done deal that Tyren Jones will never be a Gamecock?

At this time, I would say no..or the coaches could be playing it close to the vest like the Jackson situation.

Jackson
it is crazy how secretive that has been.

JC Jackson is now 'OUT'
We were hoping to get a Waiver (b/c he was found not guilty in court) to the SEC Transfer Rule banning players who were dismissed for serious misconduct. That waiver/ruling didn't happen so Jackson now has to go to a non-SEC school. Probably will be Maryland. This sucks, he would have been a monumental upgrade at the CB position.

I was really hoping this kid would make it in. He would have started day one opposite King. Now, I would imagine that Rashad Fenton will be the other starting CB this fall.

I agree with all of that. Jackson and King would've made our CB situation look like years past, and not getting Jackson sucks. I think we should've got a waiver considering he was found not guilty, but that's the way it is I guess. I guess it will be Lammons and Fenton now at CB.

The thing about Lammons is that he isn't physical. That is coming straight from the horse's mouth, and the horse doesn't like DB's who don't play that way. I hope that he gets it together, because he has pretty good coverage skills.

I knew there was a waiver clause for the SEC Transfer/dismissal rule, but I hadn't searched for it. I copied this below from another site from a guy who looked at the rules and provided links.
Basically, Jackson was eligible for a waiver to transfer to another SEC school b/c he was found not guilty. The Commish could have issued the waiver, but he did not, hence it being reported that it was outside SC's control. Somebody lobbied against us to block this transfer.

From what I can tell, this isn't a black and white rule. There is a level of subjectivity in the main rule, and especially for the waiver. If that's the case, which it seems to be, someone at a high level in the SEC said "even though you were absolved of wrongdoing, we aren't letting you play there".
Something doesn't make sense or there's some missing information somewhere.
Here is the actual bylaw that was passed last year: LINK
SEC executive associate commissioner Greg Sankey said "Should charges be dropped or should a player receive a not guilty verdict that could clear his/her name, Sankey said the commissioner could consider approving a transfer via waiver."
LINK
UGA athletic director Greg McGarity: "But he said the rule allows for the SEC commissioner to issue a waiver that could be used in those instances."
LINK
There is also a waiver process to protect a player who is later absolved of any charges.
LINK
SEC commissioner elect Greg Sankey: “We have a waiver process for everybody so that’s not unique,” Sankey said. “So if there was other information to bear at some point, that would obviously be considered. It doesn’t predict certain outcomes.”
LINK
This year, the rule was expanded: "This week the rule was expected to include the following: Dating violence, stalking, or “conduct of a nature that creates serious concerns about the safety of others.”
There was discussion if it would expand to incoming freshmen but stayed the same to only limit transfers. However, it doesn't change the waiver part, that I'm aware of.
From last month on how the SEC handles the waiver: "The SEC rule passed last year allowed for a school to ask for a waiver to be considered by the SEC’s executive committee, but a league spokesman said it wouldn’t comment on the number of waiver requests received and couldn’t say how many prospective transfers were affected by the rule because some of that “is handled at the institutional level before it reaches the SEC office.”

Jackson's situation would have been given special consideration/approval had his destination campus been an hour west of B'ham. the league office thinks 1-20E stops at the 85 interchange.
Charles Bloom's niche was Baseball during his 17 years (10 next to Slive) in B'ham. at some point that "connection" will hopefully serve USC in its dealings with now Sankey. I was hoping this Jackson situation would be one instance.
