I can't wait for the bUTtchuggers to trip and fall in their own shite this season. It will be glorious.

Prepare for 10 in a row. Lord willing, we are going to continue this wonderful streak and will break the previous record.

What crackpipe are they smoking? Or did they put this out because they too enjoy riling up the rant?

Good list. McIllece Sports is widely regarded as the best in the business.

Some will think you're just being a homeristic VFL, Mr. Goulet, but apparently they are right there with Phil Steele.

quote:

Best average finish of past two years With an average ranking of #2 over the past two years, McIllece Sports ties Phil Steele (#3 in 2015, #1 in 2014) with the most accurate college football predictions in those two seasons combined.

The next closest set of predictions over the past two years comes from PickSix Previews, which tied for 3rd in 2014 (USA Today) and tied for 6th in 2015 (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Wrathell’s CPA Rankings).

What I'm trying to say here is VOLS are going to the motherfricking ship

Bob Shoop could end up being one of the best off-season hires. Vols should have enough offense to compliment the defense. Our conference will have 6 elite defenses next year.

Now this I agree with although I'm sure most will ignore the chance to turn this thread into productive conversation. Shoop and Aranda were home run hires, imo and I do think the SEC is going to have some brutal defenses this season, even moreso than usual.

McIllece Sports would kick Dave Bartoo right in his tiny nutsack. Everyone knows that

Tennessee will be a border line top 25 team this year. They have average SEC talent, above average qb, and one of the worst game day coaches in the league.

Is this love coming from their close losses last year? If anything those games show that Butch is in over his head in the SEC, and he'll cost them more games in 2016.

I love when goons like this take the bait and get all super serious

They'll lose 3 this year and butch will cost them 2 more probably.

Butch had a talk a few weeks ago with General Neyland's force ghost and has now seen the error in his ways. I heard Butch threw his beloved chart in the trash too per back channels

Well that pretty much locks up the offseason championship for the vols. The dynasty continues.

In 2011, they predicted FSU to win. #2 Alabama won.
In 2012, they predicted Oregon to win. #6 Alabama won.
In 2013, they predicted Alabama to win. #5 FSU won.
In 2014, they predicted FSU to win. #3 Ohio State won.
In 2015, they predicted OSU to win. #4 Alabama won.

So yeah, they're batting zero right now.

I like Bartoo and find his system very helpful (it's mostly based on recruiting rankings + past performance with a few other factors thrown in) but it is heavily weighted to what the average recruiting ranking a team has over the past 5 years and in that category, of course, Florida and Georgia have more paper talent.

However, Bartoo has been terrible at analyzing the Vols in particular over the past few years. His model simply didn't work well when it came to predicting us. He thought we would be even with Oregon based on talent predictions but that Oregon would win what his formula couldn't account for was the statistically anomalous amount of attrition we'd suffered due to having so many coaching changes (his formula controls for attrition by basically saying it all evens out among teams since all teams typically suffer an amount of attrition within that is equal within the rolling recruiting averages he tallies - problem was we were an anomaly because of the exceptional turnover). Oregon out-talented us in every category and at every position and gave us an arse-kicking that was so utterly complete that Nathan Peterman looked like a good option to start the next game in the Swamp.

ESPN's FPI, OTOH, has been spot-on in predicting the Vols lately.

It's funny that you think any of us actually buy this ranking.
