I'll spare the SEC rant this little tidbit:
Vince Young's season totals before his Heisman breakout year and natty:
-2,928 yards from scrimmage 26 TDs and 11 Ints
Dobbs season totals before his upcoming Heisman breakout year and natty:
-2,962 yards from scrimmage 26 TDs and 5 Ints

We have to improve our passing game for that to happen and Dobbs is only one part of that equation.
OL and WRs have absolutely got to get better at giving time to throw and actually getting separation. We had a group of WRs that to put it bluntly were slow. Both Von Pearson and North just weren't very fast at all and while they brought some good skills to the table as a unit we couldn't separate (North's NFL writeup was brutal regarding his speed and inability to separate). We lost Pig's speed before the season and that left Josh Smith as the only one capable of consistently getting open. Ironically, most of the WRs last season Dobbs had either no or very few prior game reps with because of the various injuries the season before and North might as well not have played.
That said, I fully expect Preston to have a breakout season and Jennings has a lot of potential (his attitude and the way he plays the position even without having had any experience playing WR were refreshing). Jeff George appears to be able to catch anything within 10 feet of him although we'll have to wait and see if that will translate in games and dang is he skinny. Malone played better than we gave him credit for last season but he's still got get more consistent and if he ever does put it together we know he has the talent to be very, very, good and maybe even great but that's a perennial question with him. Byrd brings tons of speed to the unit but he's still going to have a learning curve to play WR.
However, once again we are thin at WR.
OL has quietly turned into a strength and although there's still the question of who plays tackle we know we've got some talented guys there and all over the OL (thank God, Buddah, Allah, Zeus, Osiris, Odin and everyone else).
That all said, we very rarely bothered throwing the ball last season and our attempts at long passes were ridiculously low. We simply didn't have to in most games - not with our ground game being as good as it was. The amount of times we throw has to change regardless of how dynamic Dobbs is running and improvising plays.

Over or under 5? Personal fouls Jennings gets hit with this season. Not knocking on the kid, I just enjoy his tenacity when on the field.

Probably under (not that he won't commit them so much as I'm hoping he's better at getting away with them) but I'm ok with over.
You know why Jennings gets so many? Josh Smith and Jennings are the two biggest and best smack talkers on the team. Smith is particularly good at getting DBs to lose their shite and Jennings isn't far behind him. Jennings loves to antagonize and isn't afraid of anyone -- makes him fun to watch.

Josh has a very high IQ, Vince is barely functional!

5? God lord, I'll take the under because after 2 he won't be playing much.

Jennings will be playing plenty. We are thin at WR.

Vince Young's game in the Rose Bowl against USC will keep him in the upper echelon of college QBs to ever take the field. It was the best single game performance I've ever seen from a college football player considering opponent and the fact that it was a national title game.

Not only that game...but I remember Texas' bowl game the year before. Young only had 180 yards passing for 1 TD, but he had 190 yards rushing and 4 tds. He beat Michigan by himself in that game.

Agreed
It is funny but being intelligent really can hinder some players. Intelligent people are more likely to be shy and less confident. Sometimes when I watch Dobbs I feel like he is over thinking his mechanics.

No doubt, that is why he is such a great runner, when he runs he lets his instincts take over and his rational mind takes a back seat.
