Monte Lee is going to be very good at Clemson. I was bummed when he ended up there,

Maybe Texas will take him off their hands.

Is Holbrook safe now that we've made it to Super Regionals?

Is Monte Lee still desirable?

Yes, I'm not Ray, so it's Ray's call. However, I've said consistently all year that if Holbrook could AT LEAST make Super Regionals this year, he should be fired. He made Super Regionals, so he should be safe, IMO.

We have another Top10 Recruiting Class coming in '16 and '17 (both are #10 right now)

If Schmidt and Webb actually come back, we'll have the deepest/best pitching staff in the nation next year. We have 4 Freshman All SEC guys returning.

Holbrook deserves a shot next year to see if he can get us deep into the CWS. The expectations go up next year though.

He could still be an option later on if Holbrook falls apart and Lee rises. Not this year though. Holbrook is safe.

When did winning a home regional become the expectation for our baseball program?

The expectations for Alabama football is the making the playoffs. The expectation for Kentucky basketball is the Final Four. Expectation for our baseball program should be Omaha.

It's awfully hard to make it to Omaha every year. I mean, sure have it as a goal as a team every year and try your best to reach it every year, but to expect to be in it every year, and then be disappointed in the state of the program if you don't make it every year? That's not realistic at all.

To make it to Omaha 2-3 yrs in a row is good for most teams. USC has made it to Omaha 3 yrs in a row twice in it's history, which is solid. SoCal and Texas I think made it 5 yrs in a row back in the 70s and 80s. The team we're about to face in our Super - Oklahoma State - I think leads all college baseball with 7 consecutive trips to Omaha in the 1980s.

Our expectations were based on the team doing so poorly last season, and having a ton of new players in starting roles to begin this season. To expect to jump from 32-25 or whatever, and no postseason appearance to go all the way to Omaha is kinds ridiculous. Now it appears we're only 2 wins away from doing exactly that, and if we accomplish it, it's be fantastic. But to EXPECT it to happen? No....

And what our expectations are for THIS season isn't the same thing as our expectations overall for the program and for Chad Holbrook. We're not expecting that he lead our program to only this every year and nothing better. We do want to return to Omaha. This is just a substantial step forward in getting back there. In other words, we're saying that we're pleased with the direction he's got our program back in. The direction it seemed he had it in after the end of last season was very concerning....

I'm certainly not saying he should be fired or anything, I really hope he succeeds, but I don't think he has met expectations this year if he doesn't win this SR. He lost the Clemson series, he got us embarrassed by North Carolina, and in 4 years he still hasn't won a single game in Hoover. I'm not ready to jump on the Holbrook bandwagon just because he won a home regional against Duke, Rhode Island, and UNC-W. But maybe I'm just expecting too much from the top program in the SEC this century. If so, oh well, sue me.

That's pretty much how I'm looking at it.

I think expecting more is reasonable as well, on a consistent basis. My initial thought for this thread was that 'since he didn't even make the post season last year, he better get to Supers (Sweet16) this year, or he should be fired.' he turned around the team and rebouned well in 1 year, we have a real shot at the CWS, so hopefully we'll keep improving.
