expansion is and will continue to be all about the money. old conference loyalties are nice but not relevant to the money issue. the fans' opinions are only relevant if they quit buying tickets and making donations.

the above are FACTS.

imo, college football is being ruined. the landscape has changed so much that the game itself is all that's keeping the enthusiasm strong. conferences will get so big that they will have to "split" into semi autonomous "conferences themselves. LSU can forget ever playing Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, etc except in the Conference Championship game.

in other words, we are moving to 4 super conferences which will contain 2 divisions each and an 8 team playoff (including the conference title game) will be played. our warm and fuzzy feeling about being southerners and our southeast conference pride will not mean shite. we've just about maxed out on the facilities race so our increased revenues will have to be spent on other things (or people). whippee!

i'm getting to where all I care about is LSU football. frick the conference, frick the other conferences and frick the playoffs (unless LSU is in them). and I pretty much am approaching the point where I don't care if LSU joins another conference, as long as its got some cool places to travel to. the big 12, sadly, is the closet and traveling to Lubbock, Waco, Kansas, etc would be disgusting.

False. People have been saying that since the 1980s and we aren't there still. The reason for that is we might never get there.

If the Big 12 choses correctly for expansion candidates it could stabilize. The ACC is more solid than it was a few years ago and no other Power 5 conference is looking like it will fold.

The only reason the SEC has 12 teams is for a championship game (something I assume every likes) and the only reason they went to 14 is the SEC Network (which I assume almost everyone here watches). It hasn't all been bad for the fans.
