The silence is telling re: Ole Miss

No statements or denial from Freeze. No statements from Tunsil. Bland, generic statement from Ole Miss themselves. Freeze deletes tweet about reporting infractions. Tunsil's camp clams up and we've heard nothing trying to take back and/or clarify his statements from last night.
Look, I genuinely think he was overwhelmed and didn't consciously admit to anything, but approaching noon the following day and hearing nothing from him or his camp is telling.
This is really happening. Tunsil is going to stand by his comments and Ole Miss is fricked from a national perception standpoint and hopefully an NCAA standpoint as well.

If Tunsil doesn't recant what he said, true or not, he's an a-hole throwing the school under the bus. You can't deny its a shitty thing to do because it doesn't hurt him to say nothing

The infractions aren't even a big deal anymore. The cover up is what is going to ruin them.

He is coming clean Henry - he didn't create the fraud environment he just came out of nothing and survived it

FWIW, this is exactly what happened to UT basketball under Bruce a few years back.

Well I can understand that belief from an Ole Miss fan, but if you believe Tunsil was railroaded so to speak in the press conference, which I do, then I can also understand why he would stand by the statements. If he is looking out for himself and his career, he should stick by the comments. Lying and recanting now means it will be a much longer ordeal for him IMO. I don't believe he intentionally threw Ole Miss under the bus, but I think he should own it now.
If I was his agent - the conflict of interest that representing both Tunsil and Freeze is notwithstanding - I'd tell him to stick by the statements, keep your head low, and get ready for training camp. The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power so they can't make him talk again. However, standing by the comments is a bad, bad look for Ole Miss.

I think Ross "The Boss" Bjork needs to take his California dreaming arse back to Pac 12 county.

You think at this point, him recanting his comments would make a lick of a difference?
That's what we in Texas describe as shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.

So they're just consciously letting this lead EVERY sports show in America since the midnight Sportscaster?
How difficult is it to say "my client misunderstood and never took money from coaches?"
Anyone with the slightest inkling of PR sense would tell you to get out ahead of this, and they haven't.
On a related note, Tunsil should have fired Sexton immediately. How the frick do you let your marginally intelligent, obviously overwhelmed client go out there and take questions alone? Even if you do, once the first money question came, he should have shut it down. I'd imagine that lady that ushered him off stage is unemployed soon if her job was to keep that presser in line.

The most interesting part of all of this to me, is the interview he did on stage with Deion Sanders asking him about the gas mask video, where Deion concludes with telling him that he now has a chance to make everything right and prove what kind of man he is. Then immediately following that is when he spills the beans about the cash. Maybe he was on the emotional high and just felt like he needed to clear that air. I feel bad for the kid, honestly. I certainly would not have wanted to be in that situation, at his age.

Freeze cannot tell a lie. Other than, "Come to Ole Miss, we win championships."

I do too, particularly because he comes off as a "Radio-esque" character. I'm not sure if that is acceptable, but I think you know what I mean - kind of like the guy in Making a Murderer. He is the face of Ole Miss's problems right now, and he took the fall on a night that should have been the best of his life.
All of that sympathy is quickly erased when I remember he got approximately $7.2MM in guaranteed money and a $12.5M contract with that draft slot last night, so he'll be alright.

Sure, but consider the money he lost by dropping, I would estimate at least $8-10M

Yep, and don't forget big Don Tyndall that just got a TEN YEAR show cause. NCAA doesn't play around with cover ups.

That's the best thing they can do right now. Did you really expect a response so quickly? That's what got Tunsil in trouble in the first place. The biggest mistake made last night IMO was allowing Tunsil to speak to the media at all last night after all this came out.
