Arkansas fans:
Elmer T. Lee and keep your damn ice in the freezer. We drink it like it was created. Neat.
A review:
In my opinion, Elmer T. Lee is one of the best single barrels on the market. Elmer T. Lee (ETL) is no frills, no fancy marketing, it wasn’t aged on the ocean, and there are dozens of other bottles higher on the shelf. You won’t find ETL on a GQ top ten list, but you will find it open in the cabinets of diehard bourbon enthusiasts everywhere. To me, it is the best Buffalo Trace has to offer.
Boxers would describe ETL as an elite “pound for pound” boxer. ETL can beat bourbons $20, $50 more expensive, and it never disappoints in its own category. ETL hits all points of the bourbon trifecta. It has the spice, the sweet and the smooth, all wrapped in to one boring, frumpy little bottle with a picture of another old guy that could probably beat me up. Elmer has true bona fides in the bourbon community, no doubt about it, but we all should acknowledge Elmer Lee for his service to our country as a veteran of WWII. This man is a true American hero.
