they have 70% plus admissions, so you have to really be stupid not to get in
Acceptance rates are a skewed metric and a bad one to go by for most schools. Schools like Florida tell tons of students to apply that aren't even close to being in their requirements just to deny them and keep that % low.
With Alabama's new found love for OOS enrollment, in-state students are getting denial letters while OOS students are getting acceptance letters, all about that paper.

I would agree, but thats not the case for aTm
in the last 5-10 years,
aTm has seen its school ranking go down and its enrollment skyrocket from 40's to 60k, with a goal of 80k, thats crazy!
at the same time, their average test scores have dropped while their admission rates have increased
ask any aggie, this was all done by design, with the goal of 25k engineering students and 80k total students
just watch aTm in the next 5 years as their school reputation will continue to plummet as they only strive for greater enrollment
in short, politicians and administrators have turned a pretty good school into a diploma mill and high school students in Texas are well aware of this

This is especially true with the laws in Texas.
A&M must accept every in state high school graduate in the top 10%. A&M also accepts any HS graduate in the top 25% that scores a 1300 or 30 on the SAT & ACT (with minimums for each section). Knowing that going in, anyone who applies meeting those standards are in. These kids make up the large majority that get in to A&M yearly.

Not really. Yes, Alabama turns a lot of in-state kids away just simply because most every kid sends an application to Tuscaloosa, even if they don't have the grades.
But if you have decent grades, its not difficult to get accepted to Alabama. While Alabama shows a lower acceptance rate compared to Auburn, I know plenty of Auburn graduates who've had to watch their kids enroll at Alabama simply because their kids didn't have the grades to get into Auburn, but were accepted into Alabama.
Alabama is not turning down any quality in-state kids in favor of out of state kids. If you have semi-decent grades, you can enroll at Alabama.
