I don't understand why Ole Miss fans don't get that we don't want him on the team. He hit a women, most MSU fans will agree he should not join the team.

Y'all on the other hand welcomed Stringfellow with open arms.

Pretty ignorant to stereotype all Ole Miss fans together after accusing us of doing the same. Not all of us are in favor of the 2nd chances we have given to players. I did not know much about Stringfellow when he came but was told the big deal was a physical altercation with opposing fans, but the issue with the woman was just that he grabbed a camera from her. I don't know all the details, but I'm not in favor of giving anyone a scholarship if they were kicked off another team for any kind of violent crime and I think most of our fans would agree.

Our coaches, just like yours, will give these guys another chance because their livelihood is dependent on winning and these guys can help them with that. It's messed up, but until the school's themselves take authority over making these decisions, the coaches will always be inclined to give a guy another chance if he can help their program. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. It made me sick that we didn't kick Chad Kelly off the team after the threat incident, but so far he has been a model teammate and student athlete so it's looking like he is making the best of this opportunity. If he does something stupid this summer, Freeze should be held responsible, both with the public and with the administration.

A whole lot of this.

I see it this way. I 100% believe Simmons deserves a second chance. But if state does not take away his scholarship that's not good enough to me. He should have to go to JUCO for at least a year. Then if he wants to go back to State then they can accept him. But he should have some sort of big time punishment for what he did. To me nothing short of him not being on the team this season is big enough.

Very true. These guys are not brought here to be students for the most part. They are brought in to make the school money. It's a nice bonus if they go on to becoming ambassador's for your university, model citizens, etc. But really the amount we care about the players is directly proportional to how good they are at football.

Will Simmons be punished? Sure. Will he be punished as much as someone who was not good at football? Hell no.

What about the fact that Stringfellow got arrested while in Oxford for fighting? Freeze didn't kick him off the team for being a repeat offender.
