Chase Abbington and Malik Cuellar have decided to leave the football team, per Barry Odom
Many had him projected to start on the line. played in 8 games last year.
Guess Odom is not taking shite from anybody.

Well Damn.
Do we have anything except speculation, as to why they left?

Down to 7 scholarship OL now assuming Rhodes is gone too. Not counting true freshman of course.

Good thing is that OL rarely rotate.
Just have to stay healthy.
I'm not surprised that Cuellar left, but I am surprised that Abbington did.

Jacobs moved from DL to OL.
I would imagine that we take at lest 6-7 OL in this class.

Cuellar is a fifth yr senior who probably wasn't going to start. Pretty common.
Printz was probably the third string QB. Pretty common.
Abbington just up and quit with the starting job right in front of him. That's a head scratcher.

Because of the departures Odom said that he will still be recruiting for this 2016 class. Can't be much or any talent worth giving a scholly left.
In unexpected news, offensive lineman Malik Cuellar has also left the program. The guard was not at Tuesday's practice; Barry Odom confirmed the news after practice.
"Malik Cuellar came in today and decided football was not going to be in his future," Odom said. "He decided to quit the football team as well."
Cuellar was a three-star junior college transfer in the 2015 signing class. He arrived at Missouri in January 2015 from City College of San Francisco. He sparingly played in 2015, mainly on special teams.

Wonder if Cuellar is having withdrawal problems, now that Maty isn't his roomie any more?

Like you said. Abbington is the head scratcher here.
Not saying there is more to the story......... Just don't understand why a guy, who probably had the starting job locked up........... Just walks away.

Odom didn't seem too broken up about either one.

I doubt he had the starting anywhere close to locked up.

I'm starting to think #Mizzou's freshmen OL (Trystan Castillo & Tre'vour Simms) will both skip the redshirt this year.

My son goes to Mizzou. His former GF had told me, Maty and his roommate were dumbazzes. They didn't try to hide any of it.
I'm not saying that I know anything, but maybe there was a Jesus talk with these guys, telling them to move on.
HCBO might be more interested in a clean nucleus of players, than worrying about the numbers. At least at this point in time.

Sometimes you have to get down to the bedrock before you can start building. Short term there may be some growing pains as Mizzou gets back up to speed, but long term not recruiting the Maty Mauks of the world will pay off when your QB doesn't get busted for a drug charge in the middle of potential play off run.
Arkansas hit absolute rock bottom a few years back and now we are building a program that should be in good shape for a long run. Missouri will be fine if they build the team for the long term. Within a couple of years (or less) I expect y'all to be contending for the East and wracking up double digit win seasons again.

Yea, Odom is just cutting the fat right now.
Abbington and Cuellar both had off the field issues last year, whether they were documented or not.
