Alabama is elite in Accounting and Communications (Top 10 nationally).

Not meant to be a flame, but who ranks Alabama in the Top 10?

I just did a quick google search and found the "Accounting Degree Review" website. It says it combines the rankings for Accounting programs from US News & World Report, Bloomberg Business Week, and the Public Accounting Report. It produces a ranking of the Top 30 universities for undergraduate accounting degrees.

SEC schools ranked:

#10 Georgia
#11 Texas A&M
#20 Florida
#26 Missouri
#30 Tennessee

Alabama does not make the list.

It also lists the best graduate schools for accountants:

#11 Texas A&M
#14 Ole Miss
#15 Georgia
#17 Missouri
#18 Florida
#28 Alabama
#29 Tennessee
#43 South Carolina
#45 Arkansas

There is also some website at thebigfouraccountingfirms.org and they list their Top 50 programs:

#8 Ole Miss
#13 Texas A&M
#20 Missouri
#21 Florida
#27 Georgia
#37 Tennessee
#38 Alabama
#49 Arkansas

Based off what I see, Alabama ranks in the middle of the pack for the SEC schools.

The Public Accounting Report by CCH which is the end all be all of Accounting Rankings and has been for forever (as well as the end all be all of Accounting Firm reports). Go look at any accounting school website, the rankings they trumpet are PAR's.

2015 Undergraduate
#7 Ole Miss
#8 Alabama
#9 Georgia
#12 Texas A&M
#13 Florida
#16 Missouri
#30 Tennessee
#34 Auburn

2015 Graduate
#8 Ole Miss
#9 Alabama
#10 Georgia
#13 Texas A&M
#14 Florida
#17 Missouri
#24 Tennessee
#29 Auburn
#37 Arkansas
#45 South Carolina

Most of the SEC has solid accounting programs, but the top 3-4 schools litter the halls at the Big 4 in the South and across the country, for that matter.
