I think you are misinterpreting the award.
The coach of the year does whatever it takes, within legal bounds, to win the conference championship. I think there is flexibility to award a coach who may not have won the most games because the SEC schedules are not created equally. Frank Martin was a huge beneficiary of that this year. Caliperi has built in advantages that raise the bar for him to earn Coach of the Year.

Yes and this applies to other teams that have impressive rosters like A&M
I don't have a problem with Kennedy winning it, just would of given it to Martin if it was me.

Actually you would be misinterpreting it IMO. Not every COY has been the coach who won the conference. Coaches have been awarded for notable improvements. For instance Kevin Stallings won COY for 09-10 while Kentucky won the regular season and SEC tournament.
Martin, Johnson, or White would've all been good candidates for it.
