Same thing with one of ga southerns freshmen starters (the one that completely shut us down during our Saturday game with them). Kid was only offered by ga southern but he blew up the moment they put him in a college weight room. Methinks our scouting and recruiting of pitching talent is piss poor; you can't just blow pitches by teams in the SEC. You need to be able to go off speed and place your pitches

Losing 4-2 in the 4th of game 3 of anyone cares. Moo state talking a ton of shite and it has sparked a fight and stoppage in play as both managers had to come out to diffuse things. Getting our asses kicked an humiliated by a bunch of guys with mullets (not even kidding, they actually have mullets and I don't know if it's meant to be ironic) represnting the biggest joke of a school in the conference in the biggest dump of a city in Mississippi. Dark times for the baseball program

Don't know if we won the fight but it certainly lit a fire under our arse. Dawgs lead 8-5 in the bottom of the 8th

Dawgs extend the lead to 9-5 in the 9th off a Nick King infield single that advanced him to 2nd on a throwing error at first. Stephen Wrenn then sent a shot to righ field to drive him. Bases are currently loaded with only 1 out so we could potentially blow this thing wide open to hopefully take a comfortable win. Sucks to think that we actually were in a position to win this series yesterday in the 7th before the bullpen shite itself - again.

LJ Talley with a clutch 2 out double with bases loaded! Dawgs now lead 11-5 and barring an all too possible collapse in the bottom of the 9th, we may actually end the skid today.

And, sure enough, friggin relief pitching (Blakely Brown, who threw a 3 pitch strikeout to get us out of the 8th) gives up a walk, single, and a walk to start off the bottom of the 9th and now bases are loaded with nobody out. Up 6 but that lead can shrink mighty quick with one swing of the bat.

ETA: Just gave up another single so a run scores, bases still loaded, nobody out, and we're bringing in Michael Cairnes.

396 pitches have been thrown this game between the two staffs

11-7 UGA after a run scores on a fielder's choice to 2nd. Just barely missed the double play at 1st. Painted corners with 1 out and the tying run on deck

11-8 on a deep sac fly to left that McGovern caught on the warning track. 2 away and we just need to get out of dodge with a win and some dignity

Strikeout from Cairnes FTW!

Dawgs win 11-8 to end the skid and take 1-3 in the series. Bats came alive with 15 hits but as usual, our pitching has hampered us every step of the way outside of Tyler.

15-10, 2-4 on the season. We have a beatable KSU program at home this week and then a home series against a bizarro Bama team that has looked like both the worst team in the conference during non-con play and then one of the top teams in the West with a series win over LSU.

Well in some enocuraging news - maybe? - UK just won its series against top ranked Florida which makes the sting of losing 2 of 3 to them hurt a little less. Kind of. Sort of. Ok, not really.

No idea. We're currently tied with Tennessee for 5th in the division, ahead of Mizzou but we also have the #31 RPI. Hoping against all reason that te scuffle against MSU on Saturday lit a fire.

But a large part of our problem is that we lead the SEC in wild pitches and are 3rd in errors and strikeouts. Just playing uncontrolled, fundamentally unsound baseball too often in a league filled to capacity with very good opponents

Idk how we have double digit losses yet are on the verge of having an RPI capable of making the tournament as an at large

Because outside of the loss to Charlotte, we really don't have any other losses to bad teams and have some nice wins over some good teams tossed in there. Really it's more a testament to the difficulty of our schedule than anything the team has done, sad to say

ETA: South Alabama and Kentucky are both in the top 20 for RPI, Wright State and MSU are in the top 50, western Kentucky and mercer are in the top 100. Ga Southern is at 119 with a 15-8 record.

The daunting part is still to come, though, as USCe, UF, Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tech all have top 10 RPIs, Vandy and A&M are in the top 25, and Tennessee and Bama are in the top 60

We seriously have to beat kennesaw on Tuesday and at least win the series against Bama if we want to stay alive to do anything meaningful thisbyear(by which I mean just make the SEC tourney and finish with a winning record; miss either of those marks and I'll feel really sour in Stricklin)

Message board people are typically all over the place, hard to really tell who is legit and who just blows smoke with a few exceptions (people like Bob and lowiq are pretty unanimously legit). With that said...on another board in the wake of all the mcgarity stuff last week, one guy who SEEMS to be at least SOMEWHAT in the know said he wouldn't be surprised if within 1 year's time we have both a new AD and baseball coach.

I'm all for patience but I mean if we finish 12th or lower in the SEC again this year why should we hold on to stricklin?

No reason to. Stricklins 5 year plan or whatever is with mcgarity. A new AD signals free reign to manage the programs as he or she wishes. And if we don't produce some sort of improvement in year 3 then I won't be opposed to a change. I've liked some of what I've seen this year but the pitching is still woeful and the team is just inconsistent both fielding and at the plate. Not sure how much of that you can blame on youth or recruiting or coaching or all of the above
