I admit I was one of the folks thinking it was an awful hire. He has done better than expected this year. I was also one that got real worried when Bama hired Anthony Grant. I will not express any other decisions I make on Bama basketball coaches. With that being said AJ is still not a slam dunk hire. Recruiting will make or break him. Good coaches and walk in and win with other people's players. Long term coaches can recruit their own players in and coach them

Considering Bama is at #12 in the recruiting rankings, with only 3 players, I think he's killing it in recruiting. He has AAU connections from his son playing in Dallas so long. Not to forget, he's got a big, extorverted personality. I think he'll continue to excel, especially if we keep playing like we've been.

I'm just going to assume you haven't paid any attention to his recruiting so far.

Dude, they were picked 13th in the SEC because of the shite Grant left him. They also have a dynamite class coming in including a top 10 player from Texas and two transfers (one of them highly regarded) that are eligible next year. He broke the "doesn't know how to recruit" myth before his first season ever began.

I thought it was a home run hire from the get-go, but I don't think anyone realistically expected us to be firmly on the bubble at this point in the season.
