I stated my opinion that the Civil War was the beginning of American influence on the world.

How has that worked out for us?

Most Constitutionalists of the day didn't want us involved in foreign wars ... yet we ended up doing too much of that IMHO.

Southerns were definitely against American Imperialism ... but after your precious civil war we became just that, American Imperialists controlled by big money corporate interests.

And now we find ourselves where we are today.

We did not allow Japan to keep the emperor McArthur went in as ruler. They imprisoned Tojo and tried him as a war criminal.

As a Libertarian I would prefer that America be concerned about American issues only but that ship sailed early in the last century. We are part of a global community and there is no turning back.

The logical course to take now is to use our might and influence to make the world a better place. This is happening more rapidly than ever before.

America is using its might against horrendous groups who would take us back to the dark ages. Also, American technology culture has swamped the world.

American English is spoken by more foreigners than is the Queen's English. We are shaping the world's future.
