I probably have a higher risk tolerance than some when it comes to talented recruits, but there is no way you allow a player with that type of past to step on campus.

I'm pretty tolerant as well. Everyone deserves a second chance. But someone with that history, at his young age, has a problem. The vast majority of domestic violence incidents don't ever get reported. If he was arrested 3 times, chances are he had at least 5 times that many that no one knows about. And he was probably abused as a child as well. Sad situation, but he has a problem that we don't need.
