Was born in Alabama, grew up a Bama fan. The family moved to Atlanta when I was eight, was still a Bama fan. The family moved to Florida when I was in my teens, still a Bama fan. Was accepted at UF and went to school at UF, was still a Bama fan. My oldest son also graduated from UF, I'm still a Bama fan. The wife is a Gator and she doesn't even get it. Yep, still a Bama fan.

Did you enjoy your time at Florida? What is it about rooting for Alabama as a sports team that trumps your experiences at Florida? Are your parents Bama fans? I would like to understand what the emotional connection is that overpowers your connection to UF.

If it had been UAB instead of UF, would you still think it was weird?

Good questions, but I'm not sure that I could give a good answer to the last one. It's just that from my earliest memory, I was a Bama fan. When I was a kid, dad would pop a huge bowl of popcorn and we'd get our Coca-colas and watch the Bear Bryant show on Sunday...which was a little strange because I think that deep down my dad was really an Auburn fan. Mom was, and still is, a huge Bama fan. My two younger brothers are hardcore Gators.

I got to see the Bear and Bama destroy UF 40-0 in Gainesville in '79, was wearing crimson in the student section. I had a great time at UF and all of my friends knew that I loved Bama and I had no problems at all with it.

Probably didn't do your question justice with my answers.
