Recruits would rather have the money than be "wowed." Schools likely would rather spend less money paying players than building ridiculous recruiting ploys.
So what and how do you pay them. A set amount that is the same for every school? then you are back to wowing them with your facilities. A salary cap type system? a slippery slope that will bite you in the arse
Institutional finances you spend your budget. there is absolutely no incentive to hoard profits/cash

I agree which is obviously an issue. People bitch that we do t profit more. I always question why should we profit? God knows the AD doesn't have any interest and putting money into the academic mission unless it is either PR or getting athletes better help to stay qualified

Never said I had an issue. If I did, I would be too busy wiping my arse with C notes to lost here
I just was acknowledging the problem which is easy to see when people stop trying to ignore it

I should say, I'm not saying AU should change what they are doing. It is like being in a class that grades on a bell curve and everyone cheats with the answer key. Being on the only person trying to fix the system gets you a "F"
The thing that bugs me is that the university completely bends over and takes it from athletics and essentially "pays" for this privilege. When I was a student I sat on some boards and it was nuts to me to see athletics have 100% full veto power on any issue. An example of ridiculous behavior, the LA Dodgers pay $14mil/year to rent parking around their stadium. The university owns all the lots/tailgate spaces and so on yet athletics gets free use + straight profit from selling those spots.
You may say "Well athletics is part of the University, you shouldn't charge athletics for that." Fair argument, until you realize that to advertise/sponsor Auburn athletics as an Auburn department, you have to pay the standard rate regardless of being part of the university.
