Why do so many people hate the Vols?

We have nowhere near the arrogance of Alabama. We're just a humble little football team trying to get better. What gives?

I actually don't mind the Vols too much... They need to get back to some resemblance of their former self and stop being an automatic "W" For a certain team in the west every year.

I doubt the majority of people on this board hate UT. The ones that do are so religiously devoted and relentless in their amazing level of pathetic Volsessed bitchery that I think maybe it skews the perception a little.

People don't like your team and your fan base because you guys have been overhyped recently and still try to talk trash to the rest of the SEC. Y'all haven't had a really high quality win in years. Y'all won 9 games in 2015, but so did Ole Miss, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State. You only beat one of those 6 teams this past year while losing to two, in 2014 you beat none of those 6 while losing to four, in 2013 you beat none of them while losing to three, in 2012 you beat none while losing to four, in 2011 you beat none while losing to four, in 2010 you beat one while losing to four, in 2009 you beat one while losing to three, and in 2008 you beat one while losing to three. Also add a 4-9 combined record in that time span against Arkansas, Auburn, and South Carolina (with all four wins coming against South Carolina.)
Your team is a combined 8-36 against SEC teams (excluding Texas A&M and Missouri because they joined late) that have been worth something in the past 7 years. That's why.

I'd lolve to read some of these articles in sports media "over-hyping" the Vols the last 5 years. If anything has been overplayed, it's the notion that they were.

This may very well be true. Their excessive and unnecessary posting of hype threads have rustled lots of jimmies about Tennessee, and that's evident even when those two aren't involved in a thread. (And neither one posts often except for starting said threads)
