Your argument is ridiculous.
The program's bring in millions but also spend millions. The year your baseball team won back to back Baseball titles they lost 800,000 per year. Who paid for that?

I would like to send a personal thank you to the idiot known as Jalen Tabor for bringing so many SEC fans together in this thread.
Now, Jalen, STFU, stop doing drugs, and ask the team doc to remove your head from your arse. Oh, and stop embarrassing my university you witless asshat. If Foley or Mac tells you that you've exceeded your allotment of boneheaded statements and you have to find another place to complain about, it won't bother me at all.

Agree .
They ain't starving.
They get a free education
They are treated like gods on campus
They get free clothes
They get room and board , plus open training table.
And now 3500-4000 for stipens. That's alot of pizzas if you ask me.
Plus how about the promotion and training they get first class to help them reach the league. With a first class degree if they just work a little.

Just because players 30 years ago were happy to play for peanuts doesn't mean they have to today.

That's way too harsh on a kid. Football is demanding, no doubt, and there are things that could be fixed, it's just that there's little patience for their complaints when there are much worse situations even withing the realm of college athletics. Football players, even bad ones, have it made compared to everyone else. It's someone in a good situation asking for a great one when everyone else is in a bad situation just hoping to get to good that makes their argument look so petty.

Your right , they don't have to play. They can work for minimum wage and train at the local Golds for 3 years , then try to get in a scout team somewhere

That's not the point. The point i am making is their scholarships aren't free. The amount of hours put into the sport is enough for a full time job, then they're also required to keep a certain gpa. $60k is the least a university should be paying them. A player like Tahj Boyd was a 4 year starter for Clemson. He took them to the orange bowl and kept them in the top 10. He went undrafted, so basically he helped a university make millions while receiving a $40k "education." Not a fair trade.

Life is not easy, and many times its not fair! In the great scheme of things, football players at colleges are very fricking lucky!

What gets me is these guys get a real advantage in life even if they don't go to the NFL. If you stay in the good graces of the fans you are guaranteed a decent job selling insurance or real estate to those fans. It is a lifetime of positive association.

And TB is from VA , so the cost of attendance at Clemson would be a total of 49,000 per year invluding books, board, and room. Which he got. So that's 76.00 an hour for 20 hours a week for 32 weeks. And I know they put in more time than that , but just trying to show the actual money. So yeah he went undrafted , but he also got a 200,00 degree.

That makes zero sense. If medical students made millions for their university while in college then sure, pay them. The point you're missing in your argument is that athletes have to work on the feild AS WELL AS the classroom. Name another scholarship recipient that has to focus on more than just school work?
