It's not going to surprise me if Watson has a Cam year - Heisman, undefeated, Natty - next season

Agree completely, odds are in his favor for sure.

You're clearly overlooking Tennessee.

shite, I forgot about Tennessee's dynasty of offseason championships.
Hey guys do you think anyone will ever be able to break Tennessee's offseason championship streak?

Not us. Texas A&M made a good run at it.
Of course, Ole Miss is in contention this year because they were obviously the best team in the country and beating Alabama next year will be a cakewalk.

I will say 90+% of the time I am just having fun here. I will post something just to see what rabbit hole we all can go down for amusement. If you wanted to you can see where I said before the NC game that Deshaun will give Bama fits and make it one hell of a I game.
I think Cam's power running sets him a part. Passing is not much different other than just watch some of the crazy completions Cam makes from his arm strength alone. Watson has some nice wheels and made some very nice throws.
Cam is virtually unstoppable for a 3 yard QB sneak for first downs. Deshaun doesn't have his size, but he does possess a lot of the other qualities. When comparing and looking for separation of the two, Cam's power is on a different level than Watson.
Would I take Watson now for Auburn? Of course I would and would gladly pay him to come....

It's really hard to compare players, especially in two different conferences five years apart.
But Newton's NFL career has certainly reinforced the belief that he was the best in college.

It is damn near impossible to compare. They would both have to play in the same teams, same game, etc. to really make an accurate comparison. Let's just agree to say Watson has the ability to win a NC and win a Heisman.

He beat us yes, but he was not near as accurate of a passer as Watson was. I think Watson is underrated. Cam was awesome, but I think Watson is more accurate, and faster. Cam was perfect for AUs system, and Watson is perfect for clemsons... Both are unbelievable and I hate cam.

Deshaun Watson is the truth, but he isn't better than Cam Newton.
For those bringing up points scored in 2010 against Alabama vs 2015 vs Alabama (for Auburn and Clemson), why does that matter? Nick Marshall had a better game against Alabama in 2014 than Cam Newton had against Alabama in 2010. Does that make him better?

No, but neither does the fact that one won a championship and the other hasn't.

Yeah, except that Cam Newton carried his team to the National Championship. That 2010 team was sandwiched by 8-5 teams in 2009 and 2011, followed by a 3-9 team in 2012.

He is a superior athlete to Watson in almost every measurable way and accomplished more with less. He rose above NCAA allegations and the limitations of being on a chizik coached team to go undefeated. There is no comparison.
Watson is a great qb and one of the best playmakers around. He is not better or more impactful than Cam Newton. Watson also got to run up stats against ACC defenses. Newton played an SEC schedule.
Cam is the best QB to come out of the SEC since Peyton Manning. He was a once in a lifetime athlete and Watson will have to do something incredible next year to supplant Cam. In a Cam V Watson, its Cam all day.

Cam didn't play defense or ST. Neither does DW. He put up 40 pts without any gimmies or short fields against a defense that may have 4 first rounders in this year's draft. 400 yds throwing and 70 yds rushing, completing td passes to a freshman walkon that was being covered by a 5 star. It's not DW'a fault they didn't win.

In his defense, he was a freshman 5 star.

Cam spotted bama 24 points and still beat that arse .... in Tuscaloosa.

Sounds like it's a good thing he decided to start playing defense in the second half.

You point is obvious but there are some in this thread that used the defense giving up 24 points in the first half points against him. Can't win against an agenda.

Cam wasn't accountable for the 24. He was accountable for the 7.
