Yeah, I saw him and yes, that's what he said. Very weak sauce. I'm embarrassed for him. There was no Clemson player anywhere near that ball. Excellent play by Alabama kickoff team. I don't think I've ever seen a better-executed onside kick, but it was definitely aided by Clemson not expecting it and being nowhere near the ball.

In one of the interviews after the game, Saban said that they noticed early in the game that they that option based on what that they had seen from that Clemson player on film and how he was doing the same thing in the game last night. So when an opportunity came at time when he thought Bama really needed it, he made the call to do it.
