The lake was down but the media blew up the severity of what was going on. Killed a lot of businesses around the lake. Of course, the day it started to come back up, they all disappeared.

Lake Lanier has a average depth of 60 feet. It got down about 22-23 feet total

It was far from drying up. I had a blog on the ESPN website for 6 months during that time period. They called me asking me to run a weekly article about the drought and the lake conditions. It was more realistic that the local news. I applaud ESPN for letting me write the truth

"the lake will never fill up"

...few weeks later in September..."We're at full pool, folks"

A lot of ramps were closed, a lot of people had their docks way out or just grounded, but I was out there almost every weekend because of the great weather, with no issues
