Auburn has been without a DC for 21 days now

December 6th through the present. Plus whatever little bit of time before the 6th that Malzahn knew Muschamp was leaving. Wonder how this uncertainty is affecting recruiting.
Considering Malzahn is just 2 years removed from coaching in the national title game, I can't believe elite DC's aren't knocking Malzahns door down.

Stuck out on the "Auburn Man" with Kelly.
Gus called his one contact in Hugh Freeze. Seemed to have stuck out with that lead Allen too.

You do realize the reason they have gone this long makes it very likely they are waiting for their new DC to either coach in a bowl or (more likely) are waiting for his contract buyout to reduce post Jan 1 dont you?

maybe he has his DC tabbed but cant make an official announcement until after a particular bowl game? at 1.5 M they will get someone

I'd hate to coach defense on a team that doesn't allow the defensive players a blow from the offense being HUNH

AU was very little HUNH last year. They just sucked which put the D back on the field

You'd think as little as Mahlzahn involves himself in the defense, an aspiring DC would want to take it over and be able to run the defense as he pleases. Apparently, Gustav must not let the DC have free command.

i digress. Boom had complete control. Did you not see how Gus did not get in his way when he went after the ref in the IB. He only stepped in the middle when it appeared Boom was fixing to be booted.

This is joked about but AU is really in a pivotal time. They could take a dive to the bottom of the west and perhaps the bottom of the conference if this transition isn't handled well.
There isn't one aspect of that program that looks solid and kids like the one that picked AU over UF because of Muschamp going there are 1) complete idiots because they should have known there was no way he's around for 3-4 years, 2) now completely disgruntled which won't help.

One of those million dollar DCs is giving up 37 to Tulsa and it's not even the 4th quarter.
