Should Mizzou start scheduling games in Texas?

It's pretty obvious to me that Odom is focusing on Texas. Almost all of his assistant hires this year have Oklahoma/Texas/Missouri backgrounds. So the question is if we need to have a physical presence of playing in the state? A game in Texas once a year could help bring some local guys around. Not saying we need to schedule Texas/Baylor/TCU, but maybe Texas Tech, North Texas, Houston, etc.

It would be nice to schedule Texas/TCU/Baylor because those games would bring the better recruits. Playing North Texas or even Tech puts us back in the "leftovers" as far as recruiting goes.

Not IMO.....we have made lots of recruiting inroads in TX but these kids come to Mizzou or other SEC schools to play outside the state of TX. If they wanted to play games in TX they'd go to A&M or UT.

Depends on the money. If Mizzou was offered a few million to play a game at Jerry World then sure.

Lots don't get offers from those schools.

I think we should. Keeps us relevant in the most fertile recruiting ground that we have access to.

TCU is probably the only one that doesn't hold a grudge against us. In fact, our leaving the big12 helped them. We could alternate between KC and Jerryworld. Tough game to win though.

Schedule a non-conference game with SMU!

I can see how you guys think it's necessary but with the SEC Network and other cable options, these kids are always on TV.

TV's are good and all...but when momma wants to see her baby in person more than once a year....it is alot easier to do when it is closer.

We are proactively doing it now. We've got the 10 year contract to play A&M in Dallas and then we've had/have series on the schedule with Texas Tech, Texas and TCU. It's good exposure IMO for recruiting to be down there twice a year.

We're never going to out recruit Texas, A&M or OU regularly down there but getting them to play in front of family a couple of times a year could sway a kid on the fence more than never getting to play there.

Very much this. Missouri should look into some home and away series down there.

Yes!

We have a perception issue and when someone else, such as national talking heads, control the narrative it effects in so many areas which includes recruiting and large bowl consideration.

If we were to schedule match ups against a Baylor/TCU/Texas it helps mitigate those issues. The narrative has shifted in a manner that Baylor, yes that Baylor is considered a contender for championships year in and year out. We need to make strides to do the same.
