I wouldn't call 1 national title a dynasty.

USC had two titles. LSU and USC shared the title in 2003.

Which team was best? Who knows. But USC took home the AP Trophy which has only been the standard since 1936... so it counts.

LSU is the champ in 2003. When the BCS formed, everyone agreed to abide by that system and those rules. The AP was a PART of the BCS WHOLE. It was merely an ingredient. Just like the dunkel index or wtf it is, the massey rating, colley matrix, coaches poll, etc. They were allll just individual bits of the BCS whole. The BCS was designed to put #1 vs #2 in a true national title game. LSU won that game; USC did not. I don't care if people think USC was a champion that year, they weren't. It'd be no different than the coaches poll declaring someone a winner this year that didn't win the playoffs.

And starting in 1998 it didn't count. And it counted even less (as in, didn't count at all) the following year in 2004.
