Also, those of you touting this as "protecting the coach" are retarded. You're not protecting a coach when you don't allow him/her to have a say in a matter regarding his/her team. Nobody made Gary Pinkel come out and openly support his players. He could have very easily no commented his way for 3 weeks until he retired.
This bill is a complete abortion all the way around. I would not want to coach at a school where the state legislation has bills that possibly control my scholarship retention.

Athletic scholarships are funded by private donations to the Tigers Scholarship Fund, not public money. Boosters and scholarship donors will complain and/or not donate but the government needs to stay out of it.
