I have been a Sumlin supporter/apologist since day 1 and leading up to this year. This season eroded the majority of the capital that he had.

He has ONE (and I mean fricking UNO) chance to right this ship. Whiff on any aspect of the offense this year, and that's it.

In this conference, we don't have time to play patty cake. He was the right helmsman for our transition to this new era of Aggie football--I'll always stand by that. But if he ain't the man for us in the conference long term, we can't afford NOT to cut bait.

I'm where you're at. I think he modernized us and did some pretty good things, but it's not mattering anymore. All the 5 star recruits in the world mean nothing if you don't know how to use them or if they leave because you fricked up. He gets another year, but we deserve better than this. No offense to Sumlin but this is a results oriented business and we need better results.

Rubber, meet road.

He most definitely got the ball rolling in the right direction, and that counts for a lot, but that ball is no longer rolling.

If he doesn't fix it next year, it'll be time to move on. And it'll be because of a lack of results, nothing else. Some folks try to make it about Sumlin's "arrogance" or other such fiddle faddle, but the reality us that when the results are subpar, it's open season on any aspect of a coach's personality.

He could be the nicest guy in the world and people would say he's too soft to get the job done. He could be bland as they come and people would say he's not inspiring enough.

Heard the same about Gregg Popovich in San Antonio early in 1999. People thought he was full of himself firing the coach and appointing himself as head coach/GM. He came within a whisker of getting fired before turning it around. He brought the results in the nick of time, and now he's lauded for his brusque attitude.

Personality can be spun as a positive or a negative. Ws and Ls are not so easily spun. Got to bring results.
