But let me say I never thought for a second after the 2013 season that Sumlin could really win a national title at A&M. If he couldn't win one with the GOAT it's not happening unless the Chavis/Spurrier unicorn does it for him.

Once damontre declared for the draft, no coach in America could have won a title with the 2013 team. There was no talent left on defense because Sherman got destroyed in recruiting.

Sumlin was the perfect coach for the 2012 season. He took a team of losers, added a coked-out QB and gave us one of the most enjoyable seasons possible.

And he was doing pretty well in 2013 until Johnny got horse-collared, then hurt. Since then, it's been a comedy of errors (with some moments of brilliance sprinkled in), but it's crazy how people are rewriting history. He most likely will not win a title here at A&M...but let's not act like that some huge indictment on Sumlin. We have a pathetic track record in football, almost no coach is winning a title at A&M.

Maybe, but my problem is we didn't even really come close.

What moments of brilliance? He got Chavis because external influences forced him to fire Snyder. If not for that, Snyder would still be our DC.
