Is the dumbest thing I have heard. Letting player practice and play in a bowl is always a good thing. Only Notre Dame turns down bowls...

Well, Missouri is known as the Notre Dame of the Border States

Disagree. Mizzou didn't earn a bowl invite and they know. Hence the decline.

I'm not upset. Why continue to practice without a new HC, and with players and plays that sucked this season?
We don't deserve to go bowling this year. I don't want to go to a bowl game if we didn't deserve it.

But what if the players refuse to practice because some random student claimed they were called a bad name? I heard people in Shreveport call people bad names sometimes. Sounds like a good move to me.

Life is simple, if a bowl offered you, you were deserving. Playing ball is better than not, Sure the new coach would agree.

Good for them. Participation trophies do not build character.

Not accepting a bowl invitation, is the only good decision anyone at this school has made in the past 3 months.

They should be kicked out of the SEC and/or denied all revenue sharing for this year.
Teams go to bowl games and they earn money for it. That money is then evenly distributed across the conference.
Missouri is fricking over the entire conference by not playing and getting that money. Everyone else that goes to a bowl game will be sharing their earned revenue, but Mizzou just said frick everyone else.

quote:Except that the bowl is only offering because they are desperate, and a loophole allows them to offer a team with a losing record. Especially a team that will have a losing record even if they were to win the bowl that offered them.

The standard is low enough already (as a Barner, I should know, after this season). If we had lost to TAMU or anyone else and finished 5-7 I would hope we would turn down a bowl invite as well.

This. SEC members shouldn't even be allowed to turn down bowl bids, since the revenue is to be shared with member schools. You can be sure that Mizzou will be more than happy to take their cut from everyone else's bowl revenue.
