ND is a totally different team due to injuries than the team that pounded Texas.

OU losing to Texas is bad and embarrassing but ND is not nearly as good as they are being ranked and it is complete crap. I expect Stanford to beat them by ~20. OU would annihilate ND if they played right now.

ND was helped by the rainstorm when they played Clemson, Clemson's offense is far better than ND and the weather slowed them more. They also played prevent for an entire quarter that allowed ND to get into the game. So yeah, technically ND has a 2 point loss to the #1 team in the country, but they also have'nt played anyone else with top 15 talent. Navy and Temple are borderline top 25 teams. Committee is supposed to look past the win loss and recognize the real quality of teams, but they clearly have an agenda. and that agenda is helping the big 10, and they've been doing it for two years. I look forward to Ohio St falling to 7 and remaining ahead of Baylor Ok St Stanford and a slew of other teams that have done more. Ohio St's best win is penn st at home. The committee may as well rank the top 4 based on recruiting ranks.

The only way Baylor ever makes the playoffs if they aren't undefeated is to actually schedule someone worth a pulse in nonconference.

Barring that, since Art Briles has repeatedly insisted on playing the weakest of nonconference schedules and actively thumbing his nose at the playoff committee, Baylor will continue to be ranked outside of the top four.

Let's put conference strength into perspective here.

The Big 12 has four teams that are worth a damn right now (Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and TCU). Only one of those is a ratings draw (Oklahoma) The rest of the conference is absolutely putrid. For historical reference, name a time period, ANY time period, in which A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma have all been good to great at the same time.

The ACC is becoming more balanced, with Clemson and Florida State in the Atlantic (with the occasional 3rd party) and North Carolina emerging in the coastal (with to occasional appearance by Duke and Pittsburgh. Virginia Tech, who has historically dominated that division, is down)

The Big 10 is getting stronger, with Iowa and Wisconsin holding down the west and Ohio State and the Michigan teams holding down the east

The PAC 12 is having a down year with Oregon's struggles, but the North Division is no longer a 2-team division, with the emergence of Cal and Washington State. The South Division is wide open.

The SEC is having a bit of a down year, but the west is strong and the east is improving.
